Pattaya —
A woman in the Banglamung district of Pattaya has been arrested for allegedly selling unregistered herbal drugs to unsuspecting patrons.
On Friday, March 10th, the drug store named “Kinnaree” was raided by personnel of the Chonburi Provincial Public Health and Police Region 2 after the authorities had received a tip-off from the area where the store was operated.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Thirachai Chamnarnmor, who led the raid, revealed to The Pattaya News that a Thai woman aged 22 years old, Ms. Sirinthorn Wiriyakhantikul, who oversees the store, was arrested and taken into custody on accusations of selling unregistered herbal drugs in violation of Section 106 of the Herbal Product Act.
Around 50 unregistered medical products were seized from the store, said Lt. Gen. Thirachai. The Kinnaree drug store was registered to sell modern medicine only, and Ms. Sirinthorn, who is the store manager is also not a licensed pharmacist, the officer added.
The store had been inspected and warned once in the past to stop distributing unregistered herbal drugs, but the operator ignored the warning, leading to the arrest yesterday.
The suspect is undergoing legal proceedings while the Public Health officials are examining the medicine.
