Plastic recycling center goes up in flames in south Bangkok

The authorities this morning are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out at a plastic recycling center in southern Bangkok.

The factory, located in Soi Suksawat 26 in the capital’s Rat Burana district, was already engulfed in flames when first responders arrived at around dawn. It took about 30 minutes for fire fighters to put down the flames.

While there were no reports of injury, two neighboring homes were destroyed.

One of the homeowners, identified as Sirima, said she had no choice but to quickly evacuate her family from the house, saying that firefighters had arrived too late to save any of her property.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, and investigators have closed off the area to survey the damage.
