ORIGINAL POST: First-time, clueless traveller here, hoping for some personal thoughts or opinions.
SO and I are heading to Phuket for a few days, will get a rental car from the airport, and have plans to base ourselves at a quiet, beachfront property. We then plan on travelling to Patong, Old Phuket Town, etc each day, and back to Basecamp each night – happy with an hour’s travel home, if need be.
Where should we be looking for said quiet beachfront hotel? From what I’ve researched, Patong doesn’t fit the ‘quiet’ bill so well, OPT doesn’t fit ‘beachside’. Are Kata/Karon quiet, or are there hidden gems somewhere else along that coastline that I’m not aware of?
I’m finding it hard to separate kitschy-tourist from touristy-because-its–actually-fantastic, so maybe hoping to stay somewhere less touristy, and go visit those places between bedtimes.
UPDATE:
Ok, so we think we’ve narrowed down to a few choices, upon much internet research! Does anyone have any personal experience or opinion on any of these places? Either good, bad, or interesting.
