Pattaya Tourist Police to Enhance Walking Street Safety with Training and Community Collaboration

Pattaya —

Pattaya Tourist Police recently partnered with public and private sectors for a specialized training program in an effort to enhance tourist safety and maintain a positive image for Pattaya’s renowned Walking Street.

The training program, held at Mueang Pattaya 8 School on December 19th, was inaugurated by Mr. Poramase Ngampiches, the Mayor of Pattaya. High-ranking officials from various departments, including Provincial Police Region 2, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Division 1, and Tourist Police Division 2, also attended the event.

The curriculum focused on equipping officers with the necessary skills to handle common situations encountered on Walking Street, particularly those involving intoxicated tourists. The training emphasized effective communication strategies, conflict resolution techniques, and maintaining a professional demeanor.

Recognizing the crucial role of community involvement, the authorities also invited representatives from the business and residential communities to the event. The representatives were instructed to avoid physically confronting the tourists, especially those with signs of intoxication, at all costs and to contact tourist police to handle the situation.

With the recent regulations that allow entertainment venues to operate until 4 AM, the Pattaya Tourist Police have adapted their strategies to tackle issues that may arise. Officers will actively monitor the streets to prevent tourists from engaging in unlawful behavior, such as driving under the influence or causing disruptions, for example.
