Pattaya Tourism Sector Demands Authorities Take Action Against Fake Organ Theft News

Pattaya —

The President of the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association has urged the relevant officials to take action against false reports of organ theft in Thailand as it might jeopardize tourism.

President of the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association Mr. Boonanan Pattanasin said that this fake report is being spread particularly among Chinese tourists by some anonymous sources.

The fake news essentially claims that tourists are being targeted for their organs and abduction while in Thailand, especially Chinese.

Although the news is totally fake, it might prompt concerns among unsuspecting tourists, so Boonanan wanted Pattaya officials and police to disseminate information to tourists that the news is fake, in order to build confidence and encourage tourists to visit Thailand and Pattaya.

The president went on to say that the number of Chinese tourists to Pattaya has increased significantly. The number of tourists travelling in tours will increase at the end of this month, Boonanan believed.

As for the hotel occupancy rate during the Songkran Festival from April 13th to 15th, it will be around 80-90%, he said. Wan Lai, on the 18th-19th, in Pattaya is expected to be nearly fully booked.
