A local resident passed away after he fell into the Huai Chak Nok reservoir after slipping and falling, cracking his skull on a rock during the fall.
The Nongprue Police were notified of the incident on Friday (April 28th) at Huai Chak Nok Reservoir near Thung Klom Tanman.
Emergency responders and the Pattaya News team arrived at the scene to find the body of Mr. Kanchit Boonsri, 53, a local tree trimmer, in the water. His body had become stuck under a rock weighing about 100 kilograms.
A backhoe was used to remove the rock before his body was pulled up from the water. A severe wound was found on his skull.
Mr. Nookan Puangmala, 53, told the Pattaya News that earlier in the afternoon he and Mr. Kanchit were working cutting tree branches nearby. After they finished they walked to meet an unidentified teenager who was collecting shells.
While in the shell collecting area, Mr. Kanchit slipped and fell into the reservoir. His head cracked against a large rock during his fall and became pinned under a second heavy rock.
His family was informed of the tragic death and his body taken to a local temple to prepare for the last rites.

Last month, a young boy was drowned at the same reservoir by a mentally ill man.
The reservoir has also been a common place for motorbike thieves to dump the remants of stripped bikes.
