In a preventive operation on Friday, March 8th, Pattaya Police conducted a raid on a novelty shop and seized a large cache of illegal fireworks to prevent potential safety hazards during the ongoing Pattaya Music Festival.
The raid, led by Banglamung District Chief Mr. Weekit Manarojkit, targeted a novelty shop (name withheld) situated in the Naklua sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province.
This raid was a direct response to concerns raised by hotel operators and tourists regarding the disturbance and potential safety hazards posed by the illegal sale of fireworks, particularly along the beaches of Pattaya and Jomtien where the Pattaya Music Festival 2024 is currently being held for all of March.
Responding to these complaints, Pattaya Police raided the shop and confiscated a significant quantity of fireworks openly arranged for sale in front of the shop. The 69-year-old owner, Mr. Anirut (family name withheld), was taken in for questioning and now faces charges of selling fireworks without proper authorization, according to Pattaya Police.
Banglamung district chief Mr. Weekit warned that authorities plan to actively sweep through groups of street vendors illegally selling fireworks and firecrackers on Pattaya and Jomtien beaches. This measure aims to prevent disturbances, public nuisances, and potential safety risks for attendees of the ongoing Pattaya Music Festival 2024.
