Pattaya Police Arrest Two Chinese Nationals for Illegal Possession of Firearms

Pattaya —

Pattaya police arrested two Chinese nationals for illegal possession of firearms on February 21st, 2024.

The move was to combat crimes affecting Pattaya’s tourism image and economy, Pattaya Police Chief Pol. Col. Navin Teerawit stated during a press conference.

Acting on intelligence reports, authorities conducted an investigation, leading them to a homestay in Soi Na Jomtien 22, Sattahip. Police then searched the house and arrested Mr. Cai Qingqjng (28) and Mr. Lei Chen (28), both Chinese nationals. During the operation, officers seized a 9mm pistol, ammunition magazines, handcuffs, and a shoulder bag.

According to Pol Col Navin, the two Chinese suspects possessed firearms without authorization and carried weapons into public areas. They were also found to have entered Thailand illegally by bypassing official immigration checkpoints.

“These serious violations not only pose a direct threat to public safety but also potentially tarnish the city’s tourism image and negatively impact the economy,” Pol Col Navin stated.

Mr. Cai and Mr. Lei were detained and are awaiting legal proceedings and potential deportation as of press time.
