Pattaya —

At a council meeting on Wednesday, July 28th, Pattaya council members proposed to the mayor to hire better lighting decorators to enhance the city’s festivals to attract tourists more effectively.

Council Members Mrs. Jidapha Suwattaporn and Mr. Anupong Buddhanawarat raised questions regarding the installation of decorative lights at the city’s upcoming festivals yesterday.

They said they were concerned about the lighting during important events such as the New Year, Christmas, and King Taksin the Great Memorial Day celebrations, which will expectedly draw thousands of tourists.

The concern was whether an adequate budget has been allocated for the lighting decorations and whether the professionals involved are skilled and experienced or not.

Mrs. Jidapha commented she was unsatisfied with the lighting during the last year’s events because, in her opinion, it failed to meet people’s expectations of Pattaya as a world-class tourist destination.

Meanwhile, Mr. Anupong suggested that the city should hire some skilled professionals to do the job. He mentioned that when Pattaya attempted to handle the installations itself, a large number of light bulbs eventually became unfunctional and had to be thrown away.

Pattaya Mayor Poramase Ngampichet responded to the inquiry, saying he has already instructed relevant officials to only pick skilled professionals.

He admitted due to limitations in terms of personnel, equipment, and budget, the previous festival decorations may not have been up to par with people’s expectations.

However, after receiving the new budget, Poramase ensured that the decorations will be as beautiful as those in other world-class tourist destinations.
