Pattaya News – Street Vendor Clogs Pattaya Soi 6, Disrupting Traffic and Tourist Flow

Pattaya’s nightlife hotspot Soi 6 remained heavily congested late into the night on February 6th, 2026, as street vendors occupied large sections of the narrow road, severely narrowing the available space for vehicles and pedestrians.

At around 11:00 p.m., The Pattaya News reporters visited Soi 6 in central Pattaya, one of the city’s most popular evening entertainment areas and observed continuous foot traffic, motorcycles, and cars moving in and out throughout the night. The area attracts a steady stream of both Thai and international tourists seeking nightlife services, resulting in naturally dense movement.

However, the situation was made more difficult by dozens of street vendors who had set up stalls and parked their carts along both sides of the entire length of the soi. This widespread occupation reduced the width of the roadway, creating bottlenecks, overcrowding, and a general lack of order, especially during peak hours when tourist numbers are highest.

The encroachment not only made navigation difficult and frustrating for pedestrians and drivers but also raised concerns about public safety. Narrow pathways increase the risk of accidents involving vehicles and people, while the cluttered environment can make emergency access more challenging.

This issue has persisted for some time in Soi 6, with similar complaints recurring regularly. Local residents and regular visitors have expressed frustration that authorities only conduct occasional inspections or crackdowns in response to specific complaints, rather than implementing consistent enforcement and long-term organization of the area.

Observers and business operators are calling on relevant agencies, including Pattaya City Hall, local police, and traffic authorities,to take serious and sustained action to regulate street vending, restore proper traffic flow, improve safety, and protect the overall image of Pattaya as a well-managed and welcoming tourist destination.
