A bunch of impeding chairs, road cones, and signs have been removed from the street in Pattaya’s Soi Six, following multiple alleged complaints from tourists.
Pol. Maj. Jeerawat Sukhontasap, head of the Pattaya Municipal Work Department, assigned municipal officials to remove the shops’ signs and chairs that had been illegally placed on the street and blocked the traffic flow.
Jeerawat told the local media that he had received many complaints, especially from visitors, that these blockages were disorganized, stopped parking, and encroached on the public street.
Once he learned about the problem, he told his subordinates to examine the area immediately, the police stated.
He added that the chairs and signs would be impounded at the Pattaya City Hall and that the owners would face a fine of up to 2,000 baht according to the 1992 Act on Maintenance, Cleanliness, and Orderliness.
Business owners had mostly set up the materials, according to Jeerawat, to stop vehicles from parking in front of their businesses and entrances. However, Jeerawat stated the street and parking was public and blocking or reserving spaces in front of businesses was against the law.
