Pattaya —

A Thai man attacked a rescue volunteer in Pattaya after a dispute with a Thai woman.

Pattaya rescue volunteers responded to a report of a shooting near a 7-Eleven convenience store near the railway late Saturday night, January 6th. Upon arrival, they found an unidentified Thai man in his 50s, heavily intoxicated, with blood soaking his head. Although initial reports suggested that the man was shot, closer inspection by rescue volunteers revealed that he had instead just been hit with a hard object.

Despite his injuries and the rescuers’ attempts to help him, the man became aggressive and suddenly assaulted one of the rescue volunteers, punching him in the face. The commotion attracted more attention, and a woman who was involved in the incident came forward.

According to the unidentified woman, she had been renting a room to the man and helped him find work. On this particular night, she refused his invitation to join him for a drink, citing the need to care for her elderly mother. Displeased with her refusal, the man became verbally and physically abusive, asserting ownership over her.

The woman defended herself by striking him on the head with a stick and asked him to leave. He reportedly persisted in harassing her, prompting onlookers to call for help. Eventually, Pattaya police arrived and detained the man after taking statements from him, the woman, and the injured rescue volunteer.

The woman expressed that she only wished to help the man by providing shelter and assistance. It was his aggressive behavior that led her to defend herself with force. The police are investigating the incident further.
