Pattaya Deputy Mayor Visits Restoration Project in Old Town Naklua

Manoch Nongyai, the deputy mayor of Pattaya City, oversaw a restoration of the Chalerm Phrakiat Public Park in Old Town Naklua yesterday, June 13th, as part of the Neo Pattaya project.

The restoration of Old Town Naklua is part of the Neo Pattaya project, which is a multimillion-baht endeavor to transform Pattaya into a central hub for commerce and tourism within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) zone.

As part of the policy, authorities aim to restore the prosperity of Old Town Naklua by showcasing its cultural heritage, traditions, and abundant natural beauty, with 7 sub-projects, each playing a significant role in revitalizing the community. These sub-projects include:

1. Construction of a parking building for the tourism product market – Budget: 96 million baht.
2. Renovation of the fresh seafood market – Budget: 4.5 million baht.
3. Improvement of the public park, Chalerm Phrakiat Park – Budget: 30 million baht.
4. Creation of a nature trail – Budget: 30 million baht.
5. Enhancement of the viewpoint at Pakong Naklua – Budget: 10.4 million baht.
6. Construction of an educational nature study trail along the Kong Nok Yang Canal – Budget: 15.5 million baht.
7. Construction of a community fishing port – Budget: 50 million baht.

All projects are scheduled to be completed within this year 2023.

Regarding yesterday’s visit to the Chalerm Phrakiat Public Park, Mr. Manoch revealed to The Pattaya News that the park restoration was 80% near full completion. The facility would be able to fully facilitate visitors within August, given that all that was left were small details of the construction.

The closure of this public park for several months has caused some inconvenience to the public. Thus, Mr. Manoch said Pattaya city is working diligently to expedite the construction. In the coming months, there will be an opening hours trial period from 05:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily, he said.
