Pattaya Beach Road Tragedy: Homeless Woman Seriously Injured After Getting Run Over by Truck and Motorbike

At 2:30 AM, on January 27th, 2024, the Pattaya rescue team received an accident report of a pickup truck that crushed a homeless person on Pattaya Beach Road, in front of Mike Shopping Mall, Banglamung, Chonburi.

The Pattaya rescue and police officers were dispatched to the accident scene and found a woman aged between 40 to 50 in severe condition as her leg was broken and she found it difficult to breathe, according to a report by the rescue team. The rescue team performed first aid before transferring the unidentified woman to Pattaya City Hospital.


The truck driver, Lt. Suradet Sawadee, 34, told the police that he had visited Pattaya on vacation, At the accident scene, it was allegedly quite dark. Suddenly, Lt. Suradet crushed something and heard a screaming sound. He then stopped the vehicle and aided the victim before reporting the incident to the local police, according to the Pattaya police.
It was reported that another motorbike crashed at the accident scene shortly after the first accident, but the rider fled after, according to the Pattaya police.
Mr. Thanawat Nongphong, a 26-year-old witness, told the rescue team that the victim allegedly was homeless and alcoholic. She previously had laid down in the middle of the street before the accident occurred but the locals helped pull her out, said Thanawat.
Upon initial investigation, CCTV footage showed that the victim laid down on the street before the pickup truck and an unidentified motorbike crushed the victim. The motorbike rider fled from the accident scene after that. However, the police officers pledged to provide fairness to all parties.

Pattaya police noted that the pick-up truck driver fully cooperated with the accident investigation but the motorbike rider that fled would likely have additional charges filed against them.
