UPDATE
Patong Police are still probing the cause of the death of a Belgian man reported on Wednesday. The Phuket Express reported yesterday that Patong Police are reviewing the incident to determine if the man did indeed slip and fall, as was reported earlier, or if his death was caused by a physical confrontation.
The victim’s friend said they got in a tuk tuk taxi from Bangla Road to an apartment on Soi Na Nai in the early morning. The driver wanted to charge them 300 baht, however the friend thought this was too expensive, and they started to argue, he said.
Patong Police said it is possible that residents who lived in the apartment block where the incident took place got annoyed by the argument, and became involved.
