Of the many restaurants in Highland, on Base Line, there is one that will bring you the flavors of Southeast Asia, the Orchid Thai restaurant.
When you enter the restaurant, there is a statue that appears to be welcoming you to the establishment.
A replica of a centuries old village, including figurines and an elephant, which reminds you of life in Thailand.
Mike Padungsit is the owner of the Orchid Thai.
“The restaurant is named after my mother’s favorite flower,” said Pandungsit. “This flower can be found in Thailand.”
Pandungsit, who has had the restaurant since 1999, has made changes to the interior.
“We expanded the seating area in 2005,” said Padungsit. “We now have more space for customers.
“Our walls have hand-made paintings and other artwork of elephants. Elephants are important to our culture.”
