I would very much love to learn about Songkran away from the watergun-fight aspects and maybe away from the official huge gatherings and celebrations. Does anyone know of a way that a farang could observe or learn about some of the Songkran traditions involving merit-making and celebrating the elderly? Or even a way to participate discretely? Has anyone done this? I come from a place of genuine interest in Thai culture and Buddhism and a real desire to try some of these traditions to see how they resonate with me.
