Opinion on monkeys in Lopburi

Hello, I’m half Thai currently living in Switzerland but often visit my family in Wat Phra Phutthabat near Lopburi. Every time we go to Lopburi, we enjoy seeing the monkeys roaming the streets and the temple in the city center. We find it quite amusing, and it seems to be an important aspect of Lopburi’s tourism industry.

I’d like to hear from Lopburi locals about their opinion on the monkeys. Are they welcomed or seen more as a problem? Are they overshadowing other aspects of the city? What is your general opinion of them, and what is the general opinion among the locals?
