North East travel agents see huge rise in last minute holiday bookings following spate of bad weather

Independent travel agents in the North East have seen a rapid rise in last minute holidays being booked up by families who are fed up with the gloomy weather.

July is supposed to be the month for beer gardens, barbecues and factor 30 – but this year, it’s felt a lot more like mid-November. Torrential downpours and a plummet in temperatures have left most people craving some summer sun. And as the six weeks holidays are now firmly upon us, many families have taken the decision to get on a last minute trip abroad.




The rise in last minute holiday bookings has meant that independent travel agents in our region have been rushed off their feet. Turkey, Corfu and even Thailand have been some of the most popular destinations for families to take a trip to.
