Noppon beaten by Lisowski at Crucible

Thailand’s Noppon Saengkham.

England’s Jack Lisowski defeated Thailand’s Noppon Saengkham 10-7 in the first round of the World Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield yesterday.

World No.13 Lisowski took a 6-3 lead on Tuesday before finishing off the world No.32 Thai in the best-of-19 contest yesterday.

Lisowski will next meet Judd Trump or Anthony McGill.

Noppon, better known in his country as ‘Moo Paknam’, earned a spot in the main draw after defeating China’s Zhang Anda 10-9.

It was Noppon’s fourth appearance at the Crucible, having previously played in the championship in 2017, 2020 and 2022.

He was the only Thai at the 2023 World Championship.
