Pattaya authorities have decided to cancel the New Year Countdown firework display from December 29th to 31st 2022. However, for now, concerts and food festivals set for the Countdown will continue.
The reason was not explicitly stated but is presumably related to the hospitalization of HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha. This action allows more respect to be shown to Her Royal Highness during this difficult time as Thailand prays for her recovery.
This aligns with the recent announcementmade by Chonburi authorities to cancel celebrations that will take place in the Mueang district of Chonburi although not all festivals in the province such as concerts and activities in Pattaya have been called off as of December 22nd at 3 PM according to information from several Facebook pages.
