The cabinet on Tuesday approved an Election Commission (EC) resolution for municipal polls to be held at all levels around the country, probably in March.
EC secretary-general Pol Col Jarungvith Phumma informed the cabinet of the agency’s preparedness to hold elections for mayors and councillors at all levels — tambon, muang and nakhon.
The cabinet set March 21 as the tentative date for the elections but that is still to be confirmed by the poll agency.
The municipal elections, the first since the military coup in May 2014, follow the provincial administration organisation (PAO) polls that were held on Dec 20, the first in six years.
