Nakhon Si Thammarat MP Chinnaworn Bunyakiat has dismissed the opposition’s claim that House members are deliberately aiming to shoot down two Election of MPs and Political Parties Act amendment bills after they have been scrutinised.
Earlier on Monday, opposition leader Cholnan Srikaew claimed that he heard from a government member of the House committee that manoeuvring was in motion to shoot down the bills.
When asked about the matter, Dr Cholnan refused to confirm whether what he heard was true.
Mr Chinnaworn, who is also a member of the scrutiny committee, following Dr Cholnan’s statement said such a move against the dual-ballot system was inconceivable as it would run into fierce criticism from the public.
Mr Chinnaworn said the bill sinking claim was pure speculation.
