Mother of teacher killed in Khlong Toei shooting urges quick arrest of gunman

The mother of the female teacher shot and killed yesterday, near her school in Bangkok’s Khlong Toei area, is urging the police to arrest the gunman as quickly as possible.

70-year-old Manee Sinprasert said her daughter, Sirada, 47, was a teacher at the Sacred Heart Convent School in Khong Toei. She was hit by a stray bullet fired by the gunman, thought to be a vocational student.

The gunman reportedly dismounted from a motorcycle and opened fire on a group of Rajamangala University of Technology students near the school yesterday. One bullet hit Sirada and she died at the scene. One of the vocational students was seriously wounded.

Manee said that her daughter was planning to get married next year to her boyfriend of five years.
