Most people for mandatory use of student uniforms: Nida Poll

A majority of people think the mandatory use of student uniforms should be retained while others say casual outfits should also be allowed some day during the week to ease tension, according to the result of an opinion survey by the National Institute of Development Administration, or Nida Poll.

The poll was conducted on Dec 7-8 on 1,332 people aged 15 and over of various levels of education and occupations throughout the country to compile their opinions on a campaign by the group of “bad students” for the mandatory student uniforms to be repealed.

In responding to the campaign, 69.67% said the mandatory uniforms should be retained, 12.09% said casual attires should be allowed some day during the week; 7.06% said the decision on this matter should be made by the administration of each school; 5.10% said students should be allowed to choose whether to wear a…
