Missing Austrian found dead on Koh Phi Phi

The search for a missing Austrian on Koh Phi Phi ended late yesterday afternoon with the discovery of the man’s body, according to reports.

Florian Hallermann, manager of the island’s Zeavola Resort, was discovered at around 3:30pm wedged between rocks in some hills only about 200 meters off the main road to the beach he was headed toward when last seen alive.

Police believe Hallermann, 56, had been dead three days and likely slipped while on a hike.

However, police have not reached a final conclusion regarding his cause of death. Hallermann’s body was taken to Krabi Hospital for autopsy.

Hallermann was last seen Saturday afternoon heading out of the resort toward Laem Tong Beach. Resort staff filed a missing persons report Monday, prompting the search.

That search on Tuesday turned up another dead body on the island that was not Hallerman.
