Man Found Dead in Chonburi Pond After All Night Drinking Session

Chonburi —

A Thai man was found dead in a pond in Chonburi yesterday, May 10th, after leaving a drinking party. Police suspect that the man might have waded into the water to cool himself off and drowned.

Huay Yai Police received a notification of the victim around 8:30 PM yesterday and rushed to the incident scene with rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation.

The authorities arrived at a pond located in the Khao Mai Kaeo sub-district of Banglamung district, Chonburi. The pond had an elevated wooden cabin built on top of it, Pol. Col. Surakit In-um, superintendent of the Huai Yai Police Station, told The Pattaya News.

Police found the body of the victim, 52-year-old Mr. Channarong Promsri, floating in the water near the embankment. Rescuers and police recovered his body and estimated that he might have died 3-5 hours ago.

Police said they could not find any wounds on the man’s body. His belongings were still with him, police stated.

The Pattaya News asked Mr. Channarong’s unidentified friend about the incident and was told that they were drinking together all night until dawn yesterday, May 10th. The victim left the party on his own and vanished, prompting his friend to start looking for him and leading to the shocking discovery.

His friend asked the press not to reveal his identity.

The body of the victim was transported to Banglamung Hospital for an autopsy. Pol. Col. Surakit suspected that the man might have jumped into the water to cool himself off and drowned, and passed away.
