Charoen Pokphand Group (CP), True Leasing (TLS), Siam Cement Group (SCG), Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota), and Commercial Japan Partnership Technologies Corporation (CJPT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to further accelerate collaboration towards achieving carbon neutrality in Thailand. This MOU builds upon our previous achievements, including enhancing logistics efficiency at CP and SCG sites and introducing carbon-neutral mobility solutions in Thailand.

This agreement is rooted in the strong, trust-based relationship between CP’s Senior Chairman Dhanin Chearavanont, President and CEO of SCG Roongrote Rangsiyopash, and former President Akio Toyoda of Toyota. Together, CP, TLS, SCG, Toyota, and CJPT have been championing initiatives in three key areas: data, mobility, and energy. The MOU has been signed by key leaders, including Soopakij Chearavanont, Chairman of CP Group; Koji Sato, CEO of Toyota; Roongrote Rangsiyopash, CEO of SCG; Hiroki Nakajima, President of CJPT; and Kachorn Chiaravanont, President of True Leasing. Our collective efforts aim to contribute to the well-being of Thailand’s 67 million citizens under the shared principle of taking immediate actions alongside like-minded partners.

Our focus areas include Data Solutions, Mobility Solutions, and Energy Solutions. In Data Solutions, we have improved loading efficiency and optimised delivery routes by leveraging big data from CP and SCG’s retail and logistics operations, as well as traffic and vehicle data. Demonstrations at our stores have confirmed an immediate 15% reduction in CO2 emissions.

For Mobility Solutions, we have introduced a range of vehicles, including FC Trucks, the Hilux Revo BEV concept, the JPN TAXI LPG-HEV, and mini-commercial light vans (Kei) tailored to Thailand’s usage patterns. These vehicles were used in logistics and human flow operations, resulting in approximately 68 tons/year reduction in CO2 emissions. Additionally, we successfully conducted flight tests of the FC Drone for tasks like fertilizing and seeding at a CP Farm.

In Energy Solutions, we introduced equipment for hydrogen production using biogas from Charoen Pokphand Foods poultry farm waste and food waste at Toyota’s facilities, harnessing Thailand’s unique energy sources. The hydrogen was used to power FC Trucks, the FC Drone, and even a racing car in December. Furthermore, we plan to demonstrate energy management using solar power generation and a Battery Energy Storage System at our sites.

Moving forward, we will continue contributing to carbon neutrality in Thailand by deploying HEVs or Kei vehicles aligned with local needs and expanding the adoption of FCEVs and BEVs as appropriate. We are committed to improving energy efficiency and reducing costs throughout the entire energy production, transportation, and utilisation process, utilising renewable energy suited to Thailand’s conditions.

To enhance logistics efficiency through data, we will leverage CP and SCG’s retail and logistics data along with Toyota’s Digital Twin Technology to optimise the flow of personnel, logistics, and energy through collaboration with social systems like energy management and traffic control.

To expedite these initiatives, we will work together under the unified MOU and establish Commercial Japan Partnership Technologies Asia Co., Ltd. in Thailand, fostering cross-industry collaboration to realise a carbon-neutral society tailored to Thailand’s unique circumstances, with the potential to benefit other countries as well.
