looking for high quality souvenirs for my wife’s birthday

I’m taking a trip to Bangkok and Chiang Mai and unfortunately my wife cant make it with me. I quite enjoy wandering through shops and stalls and browsing through items on my trips and so I plan to spend a lot of time roaming through the best of Thailand’s markets and malls. I always try to pick up something for loved ones and tend to fall victim to the common tourist trap vendors selling cheap trinkets. I want to pick up something memorable and unique on my trip and wanted to gather some ideas people may have had about what I can look for and where when it comes to shopping.
