Lifetimes: Music-loving Harry Currie believed in living life full tilt

A tribute Facebook page for Harry Currie is titled: “But they’ll never believe me.”

That label is apt, because Harry’s list of accomplishments was staggering. No interest was left unexplored, no opportunity missed. The shortlist included: athlete, scholarship student, military officer and spy, bestselling author, pilot, musician, composer, band leader, singer, journalist and Tartan designer. Oh, and he sang a duet with Julio Iglesias and backup vocals on the Beatles “All You Need Is Love” track.

Every layer peeled back when delving into Harry’s life reveals another element of surprise, like when he was formally presented to Queen Elizabeth in 1957 and a year later, performed at Buckingham Palace.
