Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, chairman of the Progressive Movement, is to stand trial in the Criminal Court for lese majeste.
The charge stems from comments he made on Facebook Live on Jan 18, 2021, in which he criticised the government’s Covid-19 vaccine procurement plan.
His lawyer, Krisadang Nutcharat, said prosecutors indicted Mr Thanathorn in the Criminal Court yesterday for breaching Section 112 — the lese majeste law — of the Criminal Code and the Computer Crimes Act, following a probe by Nang Loeng police into his Facebook remarks.
The Criminal Court accepted the case for trial, Mr Krisadang said.
