Last 2 days empty itinerary – looking for mountain stays

Just flew into CM yesterday morning. We are heading over to Chai Lai tmrw for 2 days by the lodging’s vehicle. Unfortunately not heading up Doi Inthanon.

Returning to CM on Friday evening, we have Sat and Sun open- deciding whether to go to Chiang Dao or Pai (further unsure if it’s worth it). We’re looking for some quiet and mountainous stay where we can walk around to soak up the green and cold.

Would the roads be ok to drive if we were to rent a car? Flying out of CM on Monday noon.

Any suggestion and advise would be great!
