King of Thailand ‘ruling from Bavarian ski resort’ | World

The king of Thailand has been accused of governing his country from a Bavarian hotel for months on end, in a possible violation of German law that poses a dilemma for local officials.

Maha Vajiralongkorn, formally King Rama, could in theory be declared persona non grata in Germany and billed for as much as €3 billion in inheritance tax if various claims are substantiated.

For much of this year he has lived with his concubines and entourage in the Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl in the Alpine resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, according to reports in the German press.
