Khao San chief queries decision to leave backpacker haven out of 4am closing list

Sanga Ruangwattanakul, president of the association, said Khao San Road should be included in the list as 80% of the clients of pubs and bars are foreigners.

He also said most of the foreigners drinking at the pubs and bars stay in hotels nearby, so there should be no problem with drunk driving.

However, Khao San is not among the three zones chosen for the late closing by Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt.

On November 6, Chadchart said only Silom/Patpong, Royal City Avenue/New Phetchaburi Road and Ratchadapisek were the zones where entertainment venues would be allowed to stay open until 4am.
