Is it possible to use something like Western Union to send money from Thailand to the US without a Thai bank account?

I have a friend coming to visit me in China, and every couple of months he’ll be traveling to Bangkok with Chinese rmb. He doesn’t have a Chinese or Thai bank, but he wants to send money back home to pay his bills. I’m not really sure how he should do this.

I considered maybe western union or something like it, but I’m not sure if he can just take like 30k baht in cash there to send it home.

Would this work? Or is there perhaps a better way that doesn’t involve crypto?
