Inside bizarre world of wacky Dartmouth bar The Shambles

The highly eccentric watering hole in the heart of the idyllic town seeks to defy conventions in every way

Tucked around the corner from some of Dartmouth’s most signature Tudor buildings is a shambolic wine bar that is defying conventions.

The Shambles is not only a wine bar, it is a wine bar-cum-pub-cum-jam space-cum-repair centre for dilapidated dolls and worn out teddy bears that arrive by courier, often in several pieces.

Everything you see inside is for sale – providing that owner Graeme Piesse is willing to part with it.

“Someone offered me a thousand pounds for my monk [statue] recently,” said Graeme. “I said no.”
