Migrant people, including families with young children, disabled individuals, and elderly, have been spotted begging for money near Pattaya Beach, causing discomfort and concern among residents and tourists.
According to the complainants, their presence, particularly along Second Road and in front of the Wat Chai Mongkol Market in South Pattaya, has raised questions about the city’s efforts to address panhandling and its impact on the tourism industry.
These foreign beggars have become a familiar sight, despite prior interventions by authoritiesto clear the area. While their activities seem limited to begging, the recurring nature of their presence and the lack of apparent consequences have frustrated local residents who have voiced their concerns on several occasions.
“It’s becoming quite disheartening to see this every day,” shared an anonymous local business owner on Second Road. “Not only is it uncomfortable for tourists, but it also paints a negative picture of the city. We need authorities to take more concrete steps to address this issue.”
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding these recent incidents.
