I am scared, any advice

I hope you all are well :)

I was so so so v v v excited to start my student journey at Chulalongkorn University. Getting ready to apply. However, I was scared by a bunch of people today about the alarming number of snake population in Thailand and increasing. How they have increased rapidly over the years and are showing up in toilets, people’s houses, outside etc. There was an article just last year by Bangkok post of one sighting every 15 min.

Also then the giant lizards (I’m sorry idk their specie name) that are just everywhere.

Is my fear genuine? What is the possibility of encountering one in the city? Should this affect my decision? Any and all advice is deeply appreciated:))))
