Hundreds camp out for free COVID-19 tests at Bangkok temple

Hundreds of people are camping out in Bangkok for free COVID-19 tests, images circulating online today show. 

They were seen waiting since Wednesday night at the Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat temple in Bangkok’s Bang Khen district ahead of free COVID-19 testings that began at 8am today. The queue was formed as early as 6am but some had to be turned away since testings were limited to 900 people.

Netizens have complained that the government should execute better crowd management such as providing online reservations or offering affordable COVID-19 testing at hospitals. Others called on the Thai authorities to get a hold of rapid lateral flow tests, which would allow people to test themselves at home.
