Huddersfield man behind Yorkshire Hotel in Thailand and how God’s Own Country inspired their success

The Yorkshire Hotel in Thailand was made popular by a Huddersfield man who focused on priding the hotel around “Yorkshire service and Yorkshire Tea”.

Paul Gibson owned The Yorkshire Hotel between 2005 until his health had deteriorated too much in 2011 and he passed on the reigns to his friend and colleague Neale Avery.

Mr Avery, who is still the general manager, said that during Mr Gibson’s time the hotel became one of the most popular in Patong and became known as a must-visit place for golfers.

The hotel manages to take a slice of God’s Own Country to South East Asia by having pictures of the Yorkshire Dales and other landmarks on the walls and also by being constantly stocked with plenty of Yorkshire Tea.
