How Tourism-Dependent Countries Are Attracting Wealthy Tourists

The Thailand Elite Card isn’t just a visa. One-percenters who pay more than $60,000 for membership can tap its multilingual, 24/7 concierge for help wrangling tee times at top golf courses, discounts on designer goods, free limo rides, spa services, and even annual physicals anywhere in Thailand.

The program, which has existed on and off for almost 20 years, is being enhanced and expanded, with new offerings intended to sweeten the appeal of joining. Chandhaluk Heesawat, the president of Thailand Elite Visas, told Insider that the company hopes the new version of the program will draw a million additional sign-ups by the end of 2026, generating a cash flow of 1 trillion baht, or about $29.5 billion, by that time.
