How expensive is Phuket really?

I’ve lived in Phuket for over a year now. I haven’t traveled much during that time. Just 2 weeks in Koh Samui. I always hear that Phuket is among the most expensive, if not the most expensive city in Thailand. For those of you who have lived in Phuket extensively, what is your experience with that? Why are you staying or why are you considering leaving?

I spend about 22,000 baht/month (rent+utilities) for a 1 bedroom (40 m2) in a quiet area of Chalong. Laundry and gasoline for 2: 3.5k/month. Food and drinks 2 people: about 30k/month (mostly thai food, but eating out 95% of the time). Visa-related costs, insurance, Muay thai membership, misc: 20k/month.
