Our house cistern has a bad float valve and will not shut off the water when the ball goes up. The water overflows into the yard. We have a contractor coming to fix this this.
Outside the yard next to the street at ground level is a pipe with two turn knobs (each house has one); I assume this is city water. Last night, we drained quite a bit of the cistern and closed both of those knobs (righty-tighty). This morning, our cistern was overflowing again.
How do you turn off the city water? Any other thoughts on this problem?
