How can so many Thai girls afford hair cuts?

edit: for clarification, I am referring to color and highlight, straightening etc. and not just cut.

I thought people could come to Bangkok for a cheap female hair color and highlighting but I was wrong. It is extremely difficult to even get inside a shop because most are booked out. And there are some that don’t offer full services (maybe just cut) and many look very shabby and run down.

I see prices of 3000 baht for services like color, highlights, straightening etc. and prices go up from there for well established places. At the same time, I see a huge amount of Thai girls with fancy colored hair or wavy hair.

Even as a foreigner, I do not wish to pay this much. How can so many Thai people seek all these hair services? I thought many Thais earned 500 baht per day. Are they really going to spend a week of salary just for a hair color that will soon grow out and need to be done again?
