Here’s what you should buy

In Saraga International Grocery, conversations in Burmese, French, Korean, Spanish and other languages fly across the aisles. Some shoppers are new to the store, wandering the 62,000-square-foot former Super Kmart for the first time. Others have grown up shopping at Saraga and know exactly what they’re looking for and where to find it in the aisles of geographically organized food from around the world.

According to Brad Nam, Saraga’s marketing manager, saraga means “living together” in Korean, and the store is a prime example of that. The hope, he says, is that people would come in for something specific, like curry sticks, and leave with something from a different aisle,like Korean noodles, to try.
