NARATHIWAT: Gunmen fired shots at a guard post outside Bacho police station on Sunday night, but the bullets hit only a power pole, signboard and a parked car.
The attack occurred about 9.30pm.
On Monday morning, Pol Col Dulyaman Yaena, the Bacho police chief, and investigators examined the scene.
They found about 20 spent cartridges of M16 and 9mm ammunition near a house about 100 metres from the police kiosk, which is outside the Bacho police station perimeter wall.
They deduced the guard post was the target of harassment fire, even though none of the shots hit it.
