Grab driver tells my (female) friend that he normally doesn’t give mixed couples a lift …

We get into the cab and the driver tells my companion that he normally doesn’t drive mixed couples (Thai female + farang). I missed that as he said that in Thai. She told me afterwards. I’m tired and put my head on my friends lap – no suspicious activities like giggling or whatever – totally harmless and family friendly. Suddenly he tells me this is a public car and he would kindly ask me to sit respectfully or something to that effect. Didn’t say anything, just got back up. Was kind of surprised as his formulation was quite elaborate. Wondered if he rehearsed it or just gives his speech on a regular basis.

Earlier we were in a restaurant and farang with a Thai lady asks me (when my friend was away) where I found her …

So, kind of a weird day … what are your experiences with racist cab drivers?
