Girl, 6, latest Covid patient in Kanchanaburi

KANCHANABURI: A six-year-old girl has become the latest Covid-19 patient in this western border province, the 5th since the new wave of the outbreak began, the provincial Covid-19 response centre announced on Sunday.

Athisan Intra, director of the centre, said the girl’s parents on Jan 4 tested positive for the virus at Maka Rak Hospital after returning from a gambling den in Pin Klao area in Bangkok. The family is from tambon Don Cha-em in Tha Maka district 

Fourteen people who had close contact with the couple, the 3rd and 4th infections, were taken for testing.

Thirteen of them were negative, but one — the six-year-old girl, was diagnosed with Covid-19.
