General Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister revealed that from the meeting of the National Committee on the Convention on the Protection of World Heritage There is an important issue regarding the World Heritage Committee’s resolutions from the 44th meeting regarding the World Heritage Sites in the Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai Forest Group. The World Heritage Committee is concerned about the construction of dams and reservoirs in the area. and nearby areas that will affect the value and abundance of the area Therefore, it is advisable to postpone the process until the Strategic Environmental Assessment for the watershed area. Including World Heritage sites will be completed and reviewed by the World Heritage Center and the International Union for Conservation (IUCN).

In this regard, the relevant agencies have been assigned to proceed. Proposal to host the 46th General Meeting of the World Heritage Committee, in which Thailand will serve as a member of the World Heritage Committee for the term 2021 – 2023 is the last year. By being a host, it will benefit the country in creating and expanding opportunities to stimulate the country’s economy after the Covid-19 epidemic situation. It also promotes the role of leadership in the implementation of the World Heritage Convention.
