Gatwick to Thailand return from £340 – What we thought of Scoot budget airlines – Laura Hill

Low-cost budget airline Scoot has recently relaunched its Gatwick to Bangkok direct flight with flights prices starting from £340.

The airline is also the only airline offering a direct flight from Gatwick to Bangkok and most fares are a fraction of the price of the majority of London to Thailand flights. A direct flight however does mean a 12-hour flight time (14 hours on the journey home), so 12 hours without the usual perks you’d expect on a long-haul flight.

Scoot airlines, an offshoot of Singapore Air, relaunched the route for the summer season in March. I joined the inaugural flight to see for myself if sacrificing the frills of flying is worth it for the savings.

Scoot is a low-cost, no-frills airline and needs preparation and forward planning to make it as pleasant as possible.
